Better Together - Community

God never intended Christianity to be a solo ride. (Acts 5:42) Christianity finds it’s most fulfilling and wonderful expression when people live, act and work in a community as friends, as brothers, and as sisters. Therefore, every born-again believer must become a part of this community.

What is a community?

It is a small group of believers of like-minded faith. It is a group that is available to give godly counsel in truth and love, a group that will help you in your walk of faith and encourages you in your time of need. (Proverbs 27:17)

The Bible says that when Mary was given the biggest news of her life (Luke 1:30-33) she had no husband to confide in. Her first instinct after her visit from the angel of the Lord was to immediately go out and seek Godly counsel from her cousin Elizabeth. Mary didn’t waste any time, she went with haste. She didn’t go to an influential person nor did she go to somebody who had high status in society. Instead, she went to someone who could give her Godly counsel in truth and love. She went to someone who encouraged her in her walk in faith. She went to someone who had a steadfast relationship with God and prayed for her and encouraged her.

As Christians, we all need a Godly company. Especially when we face a challenge, it is important to run to a company that will be able to give you godly counsel. Such communities don’t sympathize with you instead they would join hands and pray for you.

Take a minute and ask yourself these questions.

As a Christian who is your Elizabeth?

Who do you rush to in a hurry?

Who do you seek for Godly counsel?

Do you have a community that you can look up to in time of need?
